Coldwater Canyon to Perform at Ventura County Farm Day Barbeque, November 5 - Ventura County Agricultural Education

Ventura, Calif. (October 5, 2016)—The fourth annual Ventura County Farm Day, November 5, is a day where the public is invited to visit the farms in their own backyards to get a firsthand look at how farms in the area grow the food that feeds us. Following the farm tours, which run from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., is a barbeque celebration at the Ventura County Fairgrounds (San Miguel Building) in Ventura. The barbeque is from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and features live country music by Coldwater Canyon and Friends farm-fresh food prepared by Young Farmers & Ranchers and Dearmore BBQ Catering, locally-produced craft cocktails, beers from Institution Ale and wine from Summerland Winery. Other kid-friendly activities are planned to keep the whole family entertained.

“The barbeque brings everything full circle,” says Mary Maranville, Founder and Executive Director of Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG), the nonprofit that organizes Farm Day. “We start the day by visiting farms that grow our food and end the day with a barbeque featuring much of the same food—only now, it’s in the form of a beautifully-prepared barbeque.”

The barbeque proceeds support SEEAG’s mission to help children understand and connect to the farm origins of their food through classroom agricultural education and free farm field trips. Since it began in 2008, SEEAG has reached over 15,000 elementary school students in Southern California.

Barbeque tickets are $40 for adults and $15 for kids under 12. Tickets are on sale at www.venturacountyfarmday.com. For more information about SEEAG, visit www.seeag.org.
