FARM LAB: FROM FIELD-TO-FORK

Building upon SEEAG’s current Farm Lab Program, this pilot program will take students on a journey of their food, from field to fork. An agricultural science curriculum with a local focus will be coupled with nutrition education for a comprehensive field trip experience.


POSITION DETAILS

SEEAG is seeking part-time agricultural educators to join our team and assist in the implementation and establishment of an outdoor agricultural education program for 3rd grade students in Santa Maria.*

TITLE: Part-time Agricultural Educator

TIME COMMITMENT: 10-15 HRS/WK

RATE: $20/HR

*candidate must be locally based, within the Santa Maria Valley/greater Santa Barbara County area

preferred qualifications

  • Completed or pursuing a degree in agricultural education or related study.

  • Ability to develop long-term relationships with school administrators, teachers and PTA advisors.

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, grassroots nonprofit environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team.

  • Ability to develop effective work plans, set priorities, organize details, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to relate, interact, engage and teach elementary school students.

  • Semi-flexible schedule as pilot dates may be subject to change.

desired skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Education in agricultural education, nonprofit management, communications, or related subjects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, G suite, and social media platforms.

  • Experience in agricultural sciences, including soil, plant biology, beneficial insects is a plus.
