FARM LAB: FROM FIELD-TO-FORK
Building upon SEEAG’s current Farm Lab Program, this pilot program will take students on a journey of their food, from field to fork. An agricultural science curriculum with a local focus will be coupled with nutrition education for a comprehensive field trip experience.
POSITION DETAILS
SEEAG is seeking part-time agricultural educators to join our team and assist in the implementation and establishment of an outdoor agricultural education program for 3rd grade students in Santa Maria.*
TITLE: Part-time Agricultural Educator
TIME COMMITMENT: 10-15 HRS/WK
RATE: $20/HR
*candidate must be locally based, within the Santa Maria Valley/greater Santa Barbara County area
preferred qualifications
Completed or pursuing a degree in agricultural education or related study.
Ability to develop long-term relationships with school administrators, teachers and PTA advisors.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, grassroots nonprofit environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team.
Ability to develop effective work plans, set priorities, organize details, and meet deadlines.
Ability to relate, interact, engage and teach elementary school students.
Semi-flexible schedule as pilot dates may be subject to change.
desired skills
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Education in agricultural education, nonprofit management, communications, or related subjects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, G suite, and social media platforms.
Experience in agricultural sciences, including soil, plant biology, beneficial insects is a plus.
